LAHORE: Wapda made it a three-way tie at the top of the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) table on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Afghan FC.
At the Faisal Town Football Ground, Mohammad Asif opened the scoring for Wapda in first-half injury-time before veteran striker Arif Mehmood struck twice in the space of five minutes to seal victory.
Wapda’s victory meant they joined league leaders Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) on 59 points.
Wapda, who have played 28 matches — one more than KESC, jumped to second place by virtue of a better goal difference. Two-time defending champions KRL, meanwhile, have played 26 matches and it promises to be an intriguing race to the title.—Agencies
