Pakistan finally got back to winning ways in international football with a hard fought 1-0 win against hosts Nepal at Dasrath Rangsala Stadium in Kathmandu earlier today, 6 Feb 2013.
Hassan Bashir scored late on for his first ever international goal in Pakistani colours for the vital win for Zavisa Milosavljevic’s men. The Denmark-based hitman utilised on a defensive mistake by Nepal’s Ganesh Khadka in the 90th minute.
The goal was also the first time Pakistan had scored from open play stretching back to its last win in March 2011 in AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers against Chinese Taipei.

Pakistan Coach Zavisha said that he was unhappy with his team’s performance against Nepal.
Pakistan defeated Nepal 1-0 in the first friendly match thanks to a late goal scored by Hassan Bashir in stoppage time.
Speaking with the press, coach Zavisha said, “Pakistan National team is still on preparation phase. We are learning”.
“I am not happy with my boys performance as Nepal played better game, specially in midfield line”.
“Nepal seriously needs to improve on finishing”.
Commenting on next friendly match scheduled on February 9, coach Zavisha said, “There is no such planning for next match. We will enjoy the second match”
Nepal National team head coach Jack Stefanowski said that he was happy with overall performance of “experimental” side that went down to Pakistan 1-0 in the first friendly match played at Dasrath Stadium on Wednesday.
Speaking with the press, coach Stefanowski said, “We Dominated Pakistan But We Couldn’t Score Goal (s). This is an experimental match so we don’t need to worry at all”.
“We have to go back to training and work on”.
Coach Stefanowski also said that he tried to instill attacking attitude in players by fielding 4-3-3 team formation.
“We used 4-3-3 formation and we had more goal scoring chances. We just lacked goal scoring”.
Coach Stefanowski also said that he would make “vast” changes in the squad in the friendly match.
“You can expect a lot of changes in second friendly match”, concluded Stefanowski.
