PIA trounce DFA East in RLCA Ramazan Cup

The RLCA Ground in Korangi #5, Karachi saw the first competitive game of the inaugural RLCA Ramazan Floodlit Football Cup yesterday night, 30 July 2012, as Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) hammered a District Football Association (DFA) East XI by 6-2 in Group C.

The one-sided game saw 8 times former national champions PIA completely dominate DFA East from the start.

PIA won a penalty in 14th minute when DFA East’s Rizwan fouled PIA’s Ishtiaq Ahmed in the box. However, DFA East goalkeeper Manzoor Alam saved the penalty from PIA’s Abdul Ghaffar ‘Toto’. This did not stop PIA as 4 minutes later with Ishtiaq Ahmed scored from a rebounded shot from Shakir Lashari to make it 1-0.

Shakir Lashari then got scoresheet in 22nd minute when he made it 2-0 from an Abdul Ghaffar pass. DFA East pulled one back before half time in 33rd minute when Hashmat Ullah scored from an Afzal Baloch cross to make it 2-1.

In 2nd half, 5 more goals were scored – 4 by PIA. Shakir Lashari’s pass allowed Zeeshan Ali to make it 3-1 in 53rd minute. DFA East responded again just 6 minutes later when Aqeel Khan scored from 20 yards out to make it 3-2. But PIA did not falter as they won another penalty in 68th minute, and Ali Adeem Shehzad scored from the spot to make it 4-2. Shakir Lashari then scored his second of the night to make it 5-2 in 81st minute before substitute striker Riaz Ahmed made it 6-2 in stoppage time (90+1′) to win 3 points for PIA.

Referees were Habib Ullah, Saleem Musa, Saleem Uddin Babar, Abdur Rauf, and match commissioner Riaz Ahmed. The game was attended by former DFA East chairman Abdul Mannan as chief guest who met both teams at half time. On Wednesday, 1 August, Pakistan Steel face DFA Central.

Mr. Abdul Mannan, Ex-Chairman of DFA East was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Referee Habibullah, Saleem Babar, Saleem Musa and Abdul Rauf while Riaz Ahmed was the Match Commissioner.
