The All-Sindh Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Football Tournament in Dadu saw hosts Makhdoom Bilawal Shaheed FC (Dadu) and Al-Shabaz FC (Nawabshah) enter the final of the tournament after winning their respective semi-finals on Wednesday 22 June 2011 at Govt. Degree College Ground, Dadu.
The 1st semi-final saw Makhdoom Bilawal Shaheed beat fellow Dadu side Lucky Star FC 2-0, while Al-Shabaz beat Lyari’s Young Kalakot FC 1-0 in the 2nd semi-final. The final will be played on 24 June 2011 with 5 PM kick off.
Mumtaz Saand have Makhdoom Bilawal Shaheed a 1-0 lead over Lucky Star by half time thanks to 24th minute goal. In 2nd half, Jameel Jamali’s pass found Muhammad Rashid as he doubled the host’s lead to 2-0 in 46th minute to give Makhdoom Bilawal Shaheed a safe passage to the final.
After a goal-less first half, Al-Shabaz’s star striker Naseer Ahmed scored in 49th minute from 20 yards out against Lyari’s Young Kalakot FC. That goal proved sufficient till the end for Al-Shabaz as they joined Makhdoom Bilawal Shaheed in the final.
Referees were Shaukat Gottai, Niaz Ahmed, and Saeed Ahmed (Karachi), while match commissioner was Eid Muhammad Jamali (Jacobabad). The 2nd semi-final was also attended by Al-Shabaz’s former captain and current patron-in-chief Lala Arshad Iqbal as chief guest. He praised the contributions of both DFA Dadu, and Dadu District Government in helping to organise such a mega football event in the city.
