Lahore, 20 April: National Champions Young Rising Star opened their onslaught in explosive fashion when they edged out Sargodha University 9-0 in the fourth edition of National Women Football Club Championship. The Group C tie saw YRS led 3-0 at interval and scored six more in the second session at Jinnah Stadium, PSB Complex.
Midfielder Malaika Noor, scorer against Maldives in first SAFF Women Football Championship at Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh last year, struck four goals in emphatic 9-0 win. Gilgit-born Malaika Noor is an expert while taking corners and free kicks, showed her class on three set-pieces scoring in the 21st, 34th, 64th and 70th minute.
The midfielder who finished Leading Scorer of the sixth National Women Football Championship last August with nine goals, is the back bone of Ghias Uddin Baloch team, a PFF congress member. Skipper Sana Mehmood, Adeea, Sher Zaman, Asmara Habib, Zara Irfan also slotted a goal in the 32nd, 45th, 48th, 58th and 68th minute respectively. Debutata team from Sargodha failed to earn even honor-saving goal.

Model Town Women FC’s President Fouzia Rizwan has announced 23 player squad for fourth edition of National Women Football Club Championship 2011. The event will be played at Model Town Academy Ground from 22-26 April 2011. Model Town will take on Fatima Club (22 April) and Lahore Fighters (24 April) in Group-B (Pool II).
According to club’s secretary Amna Bashir, qualified coach Kirin Illyas, first ever woman to lift National Women Football trophy under coach Hafeez Malik in 2005, will act as Chief coach while Shakila Rehman will perform act as Coach.
Asmaa Usman has been named as captain, to be supported by Shagufta Akhtar as vice Captain. Other players are Khadija Akhtar, Noshaba Sana Ullah, Insia, Nabia Qureshi, Ambreen Akhter, Ayesha Ashraf, Sobia Younus, Huma Gul, Umaima Jamshed, Asma Afzal, Mashal Islam, Asma Ashraf, Sana Hanif, Sofia Nayabaig, Shahyan Nida Haq, Nazia Sadiq, Urooj Fatima, Sidra Khadim, Tayyaba Ashraf, Mubeen Tayyab and Shaheen Ameen.
