Gharib Shah Union (Lyari) came from 2 goals down to shock favourites Karachi United 5-4 in semi-finals of the Hamara Karachi 7-a-side Football Festival organised by North Nazimabad Town at National Soccer Academy Ground in Paposh, Karachi. KUFC star Rehan Munir scored twice early to give his side a 2-0 lead, but Gharib Shah Union came back strongly in a pulsating encounter.
Jaffar Ali reduced the deficit to 2-1 before half time. In second half, Jaffar maintained his effectiveness in front of goal as he scored twice more to make Gharib Shah Union take a 3-2 lead and completing his hat trick. Muhammad Yaqoob and Jameel Baba scored once each as well as Karachi United were left stunned being 5-3 down at the end of the game a Gharib Shah Union reached the final.
In second semi-final, lack of necessary floodlight arrangements in the National Soccer Academy vs Aga Khan Gymkhana game forced the match officials to abandon the game at half time with hosts NSA leading the score 2-1. The tournament’s technical committee announced the game’s second half will be played later with the score-line at half time retained.
Final of the Hamara Karachi tournament will be held on 14th March.
