The 2005 KFL champions Young Ansari (Zone West) recorded their 3rd successive victory in the 8th Karachi Football League 2010-11 when they came back from behind to beat high-flying FC Rovers (Malir) 4-1 at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. Rasheed Pira and tournament top scorer Hameed Afridi (7 goals) both scored a brace each for Young Ansari while Salman Shahid scored one for FC Rovers.

Hameed Afridi earned his second yellow of the campaign in the game, meaning he will be suspended for the Young Ansari vs Shabaz Green clash on 11 January 2011. FC Rovers’ Tehseen Ghaffar will also be suspended for his side’s next game after being sent off for a red card against Young Ansari. Referees were Adnan Khan alongside assistants Babar Khan and Farrukh Riaz while match commissioner was Abdul Karim (Member Central Zone).

Young Ansari top Group ‘A’ with 9 points while FC Rovers have 4 points to be in 6th position. On Sunday (9 Jan 2011), Burma Mohammadan (Korangi) face Shabaz Green (Banaras) at 3:30 PM while Baloch Mujahid host Chanesar Blue at 5:30 PM.

FC Rovers stormed into an early lead when Salman Shahid headed home an Irfan Junejo corner kick in 4th minute past Young Ansari goalkeeper Shoaib Khan. However, Young Ansari came back to draw level in 10th minute when veteran Rasheed Pira intercepted a pass to score for his side. The game remained delicately poised 1-1 at half time. In second half, Young Ansari continuous attacks on FC Rovers yielded 3 more goals as Rasheed Pira scored his second in 60th minute from an Umar Nawab cross while Hameed Afridi scored a quick brace with barely minutes remaining from full time in 89th and 90th minute.

This was Hameed Afridi’s 7th goal of the campaign as he topped the goalscoring charts in KFL 2010-11 as Young Ansari won the game 4-1.
