In front of a capacity crowd at the Municipal High School Ground, Nawabshah (Shaheed Benazirabad) the 2nd semi-final of the Aleem Uddin Memorial District Football League Championship Nawabshah saw hosts Moment FC beat Shaheen Sports 2-1. This marked Moment’s first final appearance in a district championship in 25 years. They will face Al-Shahbaz in the final on Sunday 31st October 2010 with a 4 pm kickoff.
The 2nd semi-final went off to a blazing start as both teams played at a fast pace. Host team Moment took the lead in 15th minute when striker Muhammad Aslam scored from a difficult angle. The match was poised an uneasy 1-0 at half time. Immediately upon start of second half, Moment FC made it 2-0 in 46th minute through striker Nadeem Ahmed after fine work from Saeed Mughal and Nasir Qureshi in build-up to the goal. Shaheen Sports managed to respond with a goal of their own in 55th minute when Prem made it 2-1. Shaheen’s strike force of Ramesh, Sattar Baloch, and Muhammad Afzal tried very hard to create more chances but Moment’s defender Faqir Muhammad and goalkeeper Faisal Qureshi led with example and thwarted Shaheen’s desperate attacks time and time again.
At the final whistle it remained 2-1 in favour of Moment FC as they reached the final. Match referee was Ustad Abdul Latif Baloch with assistants Dr Rizwan and Abid. Match Commissioner was Master Saeed.
Chief Guest for the occasion was Nawabshah’s renowned political and social personality Gul Muhammad Kerio. Other guests in attendance were Mehmood Ali Brohi, Dr Dilawar, Lala Arshad, as well as Moment chairman Jalil Ahmed Qureshi, secretary Master Saeed, and tournament organiser Master Riasat.
