Pakistan U16 trials on 2-3 April in Islamabad

The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has announced a two-day trial for the Pakistan U16 boys national team in Islamabad for the upcoming UEFA U16 Development Tournament in Kazakhstan.

In a letter dated 30 March, written by PFF COO Shahid Niaz Khokhar and sent to all affiliated member associations, the U16 national team trials will be held at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Complex in Islamabad from Thursday to Friday, 2-3 April 2026. The trials will commence at 10:00am on first day.

The PFF letter also detailed the eligibility and documentation requirements for players who want to participate in the U16 trials:

  • Must be born between 1 January 2010 – 31 December 2012 (inclusive)
  • Original valid passport
  • A copy of CNIC / Form-B

The Pakistan U16 team’s head coach is expected to be former Pakistan MNT captain Muhammad Essa. He will conduct the trials with his assistants, including goalkeeper coach Jaffar Khan.

Pakistan U16 men’s team will feature in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament for the first time, scheduled April 24–30 in Kazakhstan. This was announced in January by the PFF in a press release. Hosts Kazakhstan, along with Russia and Azerbaijan, will also compete in the event.

With Pakistan expected to host the 2026 SAFF U17 Championship in August and take part in the 2027 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers also this year, taking part in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament will be a great opportunity to test themselves against quality European opposition.
