Pakistan U16 men’s team will feature in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament for the first time, scheduled April 24–30 in Kazakhstan. Hosts Kazakhstan, along with Russia and Azerbaijan, will also compete in the event.
This was announced in a press release by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), calling it a ‘historic achievement’ that reflects the renewed vision, strategic direction, and tireless efforts of the President of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), Mr. Mohsen Gillani, whose leadership has been instrumental in reintegrating Pakistan into the international football ecosystem. Under his stewardship, PFF has taken decisive steps to create international exposure and competitive opportunities for young Pakistani talent.
The participation of Pakistan’s U-16 team in a UEFA competition is not only a milestone for youth development but also a strong signal of Pakistan football’s growing credibility and engagement at the global level. PFF’s commitment to grassroots development, international collaboration, and long-term progress is clearly translating into tangible outcomes.
This breakthrough moment belongs to Pakistan football and it underscores the collective efforts of PFF leadership, management, and stakeholders working relentlessly to place Pakistan back on the international football map.
Pakistan’s U17s had a good last year having reached the semifinals of the 2025 SAFF U17 Championship in Sri Lanka and finishing second in their 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers in Kyrgyzstan.
With Pakistan expected to host the 2026 SAFF U17 Championship in August and take part in the 2027 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers also this year, taking part in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament will be a great opportunity to test themselves against quality European opposition.
