Pakistan begins preps for AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers [The Nation]

LAHORE  –  The Pakistan national futsal team has begun its historic preparations for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, with a training camp underway at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Jinnah Sports Complex, Islamabad.

This marks a significant milestone, as Pakistan will participate in an international futsal competition for the first time in history. The camp is being supervised by Head Coach Sakhawat Ali, who is tasked with shaping the squad for the continental challenge.

Pakistan has been placed in Group D, alongside Iraq, Chinese Taipei and host nation Saudi Arabia. The Green Shirts will open their campaign against Iraq on September 20, face Saudi Arabia on September 22, and conclude the group stage against Chinese Taipei on September 24. All matches will take place in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Speaking about the preparations, officials highlighted the significance of Pakistan’s debut on the international futsal stage, expressing hope that the team will not only gain invaluable experience but also make a strong impression in its maiden outing.

The AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 will serve as the ultimate platform for Asia’s elite futsal teams, and Pakistan’s participation signals the country’s growing commitment to the fast-paced indoor game. With the training camp in full swing, the national squad is focused on developing tactical discipline, physical fitness, and team chemistry as they gear up to compete against some of Asia’s established futsal sides.
