LAHORE – The District Football Association (DFA) Lahore officially launched the Lahore Football League during its inaugural General Council meeting held at the Raiders Football Ground under the leadership of President Zia Arif Dogar.
The meeting marked a crucial turning point for local football, as over 25 club representatives gathered to deliberate on the future of the sport in the provincial capital. Participants offered constructive suggestions and pledged collective commitment to restoring Lahore’s reputation as a hub of football talent and activity.
Key stakeholders in attendance included DFA General Secretary Abdul Nadeem, meeting host Muhammad Azhar, Vice President Syed Jamaat Ali Shah, senior footballer Captain Tahir Hussain, and respected figures such as Muhammad Hanif, Saad Chaudhry, and Tajammal Khan. The session was further enriched by the presence of Referees Association representative Tariq Masood and international referee Farhan.
The council unanimously passed eleven strategic resolutions, all aimed at strengthening grassroots football and promoting transparency, development, and unity within the footballing community. These included: The official launch of the District Football League, a strong emphasis on organizing tournaments exclusively for registered clubs, support for the registration of new football clubs, a collective stance to refrain from engaging in controversial football discourse on social media, initiation of monthly association meetings to ensure accountability and progress, improved coordination between clubs and support for club development programs.
President Zia Arif Dogar expressed gratitude to all attendees and reiterated the association’s dedication to uplifting Lahore football with professionalism and inclusivity. “This is just the beginning. We are laying the foundation for a stronger footballing future in Lahore — one based on unity, structure, and opportunity,” he said. The participants hailed the meeting as a resounding success, lauding the leadership’s proactive approach and commitment to progress.
