Karachi: The final of the 14th Aga Khan University (AKU) Inter-University Football Tournament was played yesterday at the AKU Football Ground. Institute of Business Management (IoBM) Team clinched the Football Trophy defeating Aga Khan University (AKU) Team by 4-2 goals.
Guests of Hounurs Dr David Arthur, Professor & Dean, School of Nursing and Midwifery, AKU and Zulfia Nazir Ahmed, Player Pakistan Women Football Team in presence of Riaz Akbar Contractor, Chief Organizer and Manager AKU Sports Centre, Amin Lakhani, Manager, Students Experience and Zeeshan Hashmi, Sr. Manager, Administrative Services distributed the prizes among the players. The IoBM Captain Imran Adil Khan received the Winning Trophy while AKU’s Skipper Usman Mirza received the Runner’s-up Trophy.
Hamza Shahid of IoBM was given the Best Player of the Tournament award. Special Consolation Prizes were awarded to Usman Mirza of AKU, Abdullah Ahmed of IoBM, Moeed Khan of SSUET and Sayam Jamal of DUHS for demonstrating excellent skills in the Football Tournament. Dr David Arthur paid tributes to the efforts of AKU Sports Centre Organizers for organizing such healthy activities especially for the youths and congratulated both the teams on their success. He emphasized to the Organizers that such Tournaments should be arranged on regular basis for the promotion of Football amongst the youth. Riaz Akbar Contractor, Chief Organizer and Manager AKU Sports Centre thanked the guests, the participating teams, print and electronic media and the technical officials for all the support in organizing the successful tournament.

The matches were supervised by Referees Ansar Javed, Mufeez-ur-Rehman, M. Rafiq Official Scorer Sajjad Akbar and Match Commissioners Munawar Khan.
