KARACHI: Marta Women FC A were crowned champions when they snatched a 1-0 victory against SMB Fatima in the final of the first Mader-e-Millat Women Football tournament here at the KMC Stadium on Thursday. Naila Rani hit the winner five minutes from time.
Karachi Olympic Association’s (KOA) President Mehtabuddin Chawla gave cash awards and trophies to the leading teams and handed certificates to the players.
Also present were chairman Marta Women FC Pirzada Ajmal Farooqui and president Pak-China Club Javed Rasheed.
The winners Marta Women FC A went away with a purse of Rs10,000, while the runners-up got Rs5,000. Marta Women FC B won the fair-play trophy.
Naila of Marta Women FC A was declared the best player of the tournament, while Irum Kazmi of SMB Fatima wad adjudged the best goalie.
