The DOSTI “Playing For Peace” One-Day U16 Futsal Tournament, organised by Karachi United Football Foundation (KUFF) and British Council, concluded today, 29 April 2012, at Old Golimar Football Stadium in Trans Lyari, Karachi.
The participant teams were 2 teams from KUFF Old Golimar Centre, as well as a team from Liaquat Shah Academy, Shams Academy, Izhar Bhaiya Academy, Pir Mohammed Academy, Majid Shaheed Academy, Pak Rexor Academy. Each team was donated special kits for the tournament from KUFF and British Council by Riaz Ahmed, with fruit juices helping to replenish players between games in the one day tournament.
For the tournament, the Old Golimar Stadium was divided into two separate pitches to allow matches to be held simultaneously with two 20 minute halves.
Shams Memorial Academy held Izhar Bhayya Memorial Academy 3-0 in 1st quarter-final held at Ground #1. 2nd quarter final at Ground #2 saw KUFF Academy Old Golimar Centre B defeated Majid Shaeed Academy 2-0.
3rd quarter final at Ground #1 saw Liaquat Shah Memorial Academy edge Pir Mohammad Memorial Academy 1-0, while 4th quarter-final at Ground #2 saw KUFF Old Golimar Centre A defeated Qadir Bakhsh Academy 2-0.
In semi-finals, KUFF Old Goimar Centre A beat KUFF Old Golimar Centre B 2-1 at Ground #1 while Liaquat Shah Memorial Academy thrash Shams memorial Academy 1-0 at Ground #2 to reach the final. Decisive goal scored by Shakir Baloch.
Liaquat Shah Memorial Academy (Baldia) beat KUFF Centre Old Golimar A in the final 2-0 to be crowned champions at Ground #1 thanks to Zahid Khan’s two goal. Shams Memorial Academy beat KUFF Centre Old Golimar B 3-0 to finish in 3rd place at Ground #2. Azizullah scored hat-rick.
Referees were Saleem Babar, Babar Khan, Hafeez Ahmed and Saleem Faiz with match commissioners Abdul Karim and Khalid Majeed.
In a glittering ceremony, KUFF Centre Old Golimar B young player Abdul Samad was declared Best Player, Shams Memorial Academy’s Azizullah was Top Scorer with 5 goals including hat-rick, while Noor Ali of KUFF Centre Old Golimar A Noor Ali was Best Goalkeeper.
Chairman Referees West Ch. Mohammad Israr, Vice President DFA West Rehmat Baloch, Members West Iqbal Minhas, Mohammad Ali Baloch, Head Coach KUFF Arshad Jamal, Coaches KUFF Centre Old Golimar Shokat Shaki and Waheed Baloch was special guest.
KUFF’s Administrator Riaz Ahmed deeply thanked Coaches of Old Golimar Centres, Shokat Shaki and Waheed Baloch, members DFA West, for organising such a splendid event.
Riaz Ahmed said that similar events are held on a weekly basis at all 6 KUFF Centres across Karachi, and that new talent was emerging that could make it to national team in future. Next event will be held in North Karachi from 5th May 2012.
