KPT gives permanent jobs to 114 sportspeople

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) handed over appointment letters to 114 sportspeople on Friday, giving them permanent jobs.

The sportsmen include six international players from cricket, football and snooker.

The international stars who have been promoted and given permanent cadre include Khurram Hussain Agha, Adeel Malik, Junaid Qadir, Muhammad Hussain, Ahmed Iqbal and Behram Khan. Khurram Hussain Agha, Adeel Malik, Junaid Qadir, Muhammad Hussain and Behram Khan have been made traffic supervisors.

KPT chairman Aslam Hayat Khan gave appointment letters to these players during a ceremony here at the KPT headquarters.

Some of these sportsmen had been working on daily wages basis since 1993.

Breakup: 38 footballers, 18 boxers, 29 cricketers, eight hockey players, four badminton players. The rest are those who provide various services during competitions.
