Burma Mohdn. beat Young Tughlaq in Engro League

The 2012 All-Karachi Engro Vopak Football League at Jam Stadium, Malir (Karachi) saw Burma Mohammadan (Korangi) top Group A with 6 points after a convincing 2-0 win over debutants Young Tughlaq (Lyari) yesterday, 10 Feb 2012.

Man of the Match for Burma Mohammadan was midfielder Muhammad Ishaq who scored both goals in the win and was given the Rs 500 cash prize by DFA East secretary Ubaidullah Khan. Burma Mohammadan dominated the DFA South A-Division League runners-up Young Tughlaq from start to finish. Muhammad Ishaq’s 20 yard lob left Young Tughlaq goalkeeper Junaid Afzal scampering to score with style after just 6 minutes.

Young Tughlaq attempted to respond with an equaliser but captain Abdul Zaheer’s brilliant effort was well-saved by Burma Mohammadan’s former international goalkeeper Abdul Ghani in 27th minute. Anees Ahmed then missed the chance to put Burma Mohammadan 2-0 up in 40th minute when he failed to head home a well-placed cross from Pervaiz Akhtar, as their lead remained 1-0 at half time.

Burma Mohammadan kept dominance in 2nd half as Anees Ahmed, Imran Shakoor, Pervaiz Akhtar, and M Idrees forced saves out of  goalkeeper Junaid Afzal. Eventually, Muhammad Ishaq made it 2-0 in 57th minute when he converted a cross from Jaffar Ullah with his second of the game. Young Tughlaq’s Abdul Zaheer, Zohaib Ahmed, M Ayaz, and Saddam Hussain tried hard to reduce the deficit but their mediocre finishing failed to really test Abdul Ghani in goal.

Burma Mohammadan held on for a well-deserved 2-0 win at the end. Referees were Javed Bangash, Ahmed Mian, Babar Khan, Arif Hameed, and match commissioner Abdul Karim.

On Sunday, 12 Feb 2012, 2 games will take place. Baloch Mohammadan kick off at 2 PM against fellow Malir side Dilbod Mohammadan, while at 4 PM hosts FC Rovers (Malir Cantt) face Janbaz Sports (Kemari).
