Baloch Club win, Askani Bros held in Engro League

The 2012 All-Karachi Engro Vopak Football League, organised by FC Rovers (Malir Cantt), saw the result of 2 Group B games yesterday, 27 Feb 2012. Home side Baloch FC Malir edged past Salar Welfare Centre (Malir) 1-0 while Askani Brothers (Baldia Town) were held 1-1 by Mauripur Azad.

Baloch FC Malir gave Salar Welfare Centre their first ever defeat in current Engro Vopak League campaign thanks to Abdul Rasheed’s 9th minute goal at Jam Stadium, Malir. That goal proved to be enough as Baloch Club won 1-0 at the end. Baloch Club’s Zakir Hussain was awarded Rs 500 as Man of the Match prize by Fateh Muhammad Baloch on behalf of FC Rovers management.

Askani Brothers were held 1-1 by Mauripur Azad in other game held at Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi. This was Askani Brothers fourth consecutive draw which also gave Mauripur Azad their first point in the league. Zubair Ahmed Jr. gave Askani the lead after 41 minutes, only for Mauripur Azad captain Amjad Ali equalising late on in 88th minute to share the points.

Referees were Javed Bangash, M Umar, Ahmed Mian, Shaukat Ali, Qari Tahir, and Abdul Wahid, while match commissioners were H.M.Hanif and Abdul Karim.

Baloch Club Malir lie on 7 points from 4 games, Salar Welfare Centre on 8 points from 5 games, Askani Brothers with 4 points from 4 games, while Mauripur Azad now on 1 point from 4 games. On Wednesday, 29 Feb 2012, Azam Sports face Mauripur Azad at Jam Stadium Malir.

Usmanabad Union and Young Shaheen hold General Body CongressTwo Karachi DFA South clubs, Usmanabad Union and Young Shaheen FC, held a general congress in wake of the demise of both clubs’ supremo Mushtaq Ahmed. Both clubs had been struggling with the loss of Mushtaq Ahmed and Usmanabad Union president Anwar Zeb Tanoli got both clubs to hold a joint session together to decide their next course of action.

Both clubs decided to honour Mushtaq Ahmed’s memory by appointing noted football journalist and organiser Riaz Ahmed on their senior boards. Usmanabad Union voted to keep Anwar Zeb Tanoli as President, Riaz Ahmed as General Secretary, and Musa Muhammad as Treasurer. Young Shaheen FC made Anwar Zeb Tanoli as Chief Executive, Riaz Ahmed as President, and Umar Hayat as Treasurer. Both clubs expressed confidence in Riaz Ahmed’s ability to lead them forward given his tremendous services to football in Karachi and Pakistan.

Anwar Zeb Tanoli then directed Riaz Ahmed to formally notify DFA South of both clubs’ changes in their senior board.
