The Avol All-Karachi Engro Inter-Department Football Championship 2011-12 was won by Engro Polymer at the Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. They beat tournament hosts Engro Vopak 2-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the end of normal time.
Engro Vopak had almost won the gripping final thanks to Mati-ur-Rehman’s 38th minute header from a Syed Ammar Shah free-kick, but Engro Polymer were awarded a penalty just before the final whistle. Muhammad Ehtisham then scored the spot kick to tie the game and send it to penalties. Ain-ul-Haq and Kamran scored for Engro Polymer in the shoot-out to win the final for their side, while only Ammar Shah managed the same for Engro Vopak.
The final was attended by Muhammad Fakhir, Head of Operations at Engro Vopak, as chief guest as he distributed prizes to the finalists. Engro Polymer goalkeeper Sabir won Best Player award, while Engro Vopak striker Syed Ammar Shah won Top Scorer award.
The chief guest then praised the superb organisation of the tournament in making it a success just like in 2010 and vowed to bring even better changes to it in the new year.
