KARACHI: International striker Arif Mehmood scored goals in both halves to steer WAPDA to a 2-1 win over Habib Bank Limited (HBL) in their 8th PPFL match at the Railway stadium in Lahore on Thursday.
Arif, who has been the top-scorer three times in the league, drew first blood for WAPDA as he struck in the 21st minute.
Though the first period ended in favour of WADPA, HBL came out strong from the blocks in the second period but WAPDA skipper Arif once again struck in the 68th minute to double the advantage for his side. However, HBL reduced the deficit through an unlikely source as defender Shahid Ali got onto the score-sheet four minutes later. WAPDA picked up two points.
Meanwhile, Muslim FC defeated PMC Athletic FC 1-0 thanks to a strike from Mohammad Dawood at the Agriculture University ground in Faisalabad.
