KARACHI: Pakistan Navy blanked Police 2-0 in a match of the Pakistan Premier Football League at the Municipal Stadium in Rawalpindi on Sunday.
Both of the Navy goals came in an action-packed second half. Jabbar Hussain drew first blood for the sailors in the 62nd minute while teammate Muhammad Rizwan sealed the fate of the match in Navy’s favour eight minutes before the final whistle.
In another match, Baloch FC edged out PMC Athletico 2-1 at the PMC Ground in Faisalabad. Trailing by a goal, Baloch FC struck twice in quick succession to beat their rivals. PMC went ahead in the 77th minute but Baloch FC scored two goals within a couple of minutes to gain full victory points from the outing.
Meanwhile, PAF and Afghan FC Chaman played out a 0-0 draw.
In PFF League 2011-12 (2nd Div), Zarai Taraqiati Bank (ZTBL) beat Higher Education Commission (HEC) 2-0 at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad with goals from Izhar Ullah (33′) and Iftikhar Hussain (65′). Pakistan Television (PTV) beat Mecca Flour Mills 1-0 thanks to Salah-ud-Din’s 33rd minute strike.
At Sahiwal’s Rai Ali Nawaz Stadium, home side Young Blood FC edged past Afghan Sports FC (Quetta) 1-0 with a goal from captain Naeem Riaz in 12th minute.
