KARACHI: Army snatched an exciting 2-1 win against Afghan FC in a scintillating fashion in their PPFL match at the Municipal stadium in Rawalpindi yesterday, 21 November 2011.
The first half failed to produce any goals but the second period was a different story as it saw three goals. Army were the first to get onto the score-sheet as striker Shakeel Yousuf pounced on an opportunity to slot in on 55 minutes. But Afghan FC responded well and their hard work paid off in the 75th minute as their marksman Mohammad Hanif brought them back with a much-needed strike.
Just when it seemed that the match was heading towards a draw, Sharjeel Masih broke hearts of Afghan FC players when he scored the winner just a minute from final whistle.
In another match, KRL defeated Police 2-0 at the same venue. Goals from forwards Mohammad Qasim and Mohammad Shahid respectively in each half ensured an easy outing for KRL, as they require just one more win to clinch the PPL title with an unassailable points lead over their nearest rivals.
WAPDA received a 3-0 walkover against PEL, dooming the Quetta side to relegation and disqualification with a bottom placed finish.
