On Saturday 8th October, the final of the 6th GSA D Goal Ramadan futsal tournament took place. The tournament which included 32 teams, hundreds of dazzling goals but in the end had only one winner, and a deserving winner. Rebellions FC were crowned champions after they beat the defending champions Bafana in the final 3-1 on penalties after a tough match that ended 1-1 in final seconds.
The lead up to the match was a spectacle to behold as well. Free styling performances were followed up by a unique introduction of the players. The youngsters of GSA lined up to cheer and greet the players in appreciation of the football. The final was also covered by GEO Sports and various interviews were conducted by GEO Sports with the players and officials.
Finally the moment came and the two teams locked horns. The start was cautious by both teams and a lucky chance fell to Kashif Zafar off a free kick in the box and he took full advantage to put Bafana ahead by a goal in the 5th minute. His tournament leading seventh goal was well taken but it was a call for the Rebellions to rise. Bafana might have not deserved the lead but later on justified there superiority but controlling the game and pace in the first half.
After the first half both teams met the Chief Guests as Karachi Football District West official Coach Basheer was joined by Coastal Steel Mills representative and regular supporter of GSA D Goal Mr. Mughni. Both met with the players and officials.
Finally the awaited second half started and we witnessed the best performance over a half by the Champions. Rebellions attacked with intensity and sharp passing and movement. They were not about to let this one slip through the hands and one wave of attack was followed by two three more.
The introduction of Waleed Baloch really changed the game and they hit the post three times, until finally Kami who again produced a magical display but was guilty of not taking enough shots decided to let go of a fierce shot and it went through. The Rebellions were level with only seconds to go. Stunning equalizer to finally justify his best player status, Kami had done it for the Rebellions and with the raised spirits Rebellions came through 3-1 on penalties. It was never in doubt after the equalizer but it was a fair and deserving result.
Kashif Zafar took home the top goal scorer Ball home. Kamran Aslam (Kami) was named player of the tournament and received Cash. Hashim Yasin picked up the Wiinners Trophy in a night of celebrations that belonged to the Champs, Rebellions.
