KARACHI: Afghan FC defeated KPT 3-0 to move to third in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) while HBL played out a goal-less draw with Baloch FC.
Despite a strong start, KPT lost their focus as the match went on. Jaded Khan Pathan took full advantage of the lapse in concentration as he found the net in the 39th minute.
Abdul Nasir increased Afghan FC’s lead in the first minute of the second half before Aimal Khan sealed the result in their favour with a goal in the 87th minute.
Pathan upbeat about chances
“KPT are a tough outfit,” Pathan told The Express Tribune. “Having beaten them, I feel that we are getting better as the tournament goes on.
“With Wapda not doing so well, KRL and PIA are the only competitors for us.
“But we will try and take advantage of their inconsistency to increase our chances.”
Afghan FC are placed third with 22 points in 11 matches while KPT have now slipped to the seventh spot with 19.
HBL are fourth with 22 points after 13 matches in the 16-team tournament.
