The All-Karachi Syed Jamal Shaheed Football Tournament, organised by Karachi DFA Central at New Karachi United Ground in Sector 11-A featuring 32 teams in knock-out format, saw Rahbar Sports (New Karachi) beat Gulshan Soccer 2-1 in the final to win the winners’ trophy. Rahbar Sports had beaten Chaman FC while Gulshan Soccer had beaten Azamnagar FC in semi-finals.
In the final, Gulshan Soccer took a 1st minute lead through Arslan which they maintained at half time. In 2nd half, Rahbar Sports produced a remarkable comeback as an unfortunate own goal from Gulshan Soccer made the scores tied, before Rahbar Sports scored the winning goal in final minutes through a Majid penalty. Referees were Adnan Khan, Babar Khan, M Farooq, M Imran, while match commissioner was Abdul Karim.
The final was attended by Rashid Ayub Khan alongside DFA Central vice-president Saleem Patni who handed out prizes to the finalists. Others present were DFA Central officials M Shamim, Adam Jan, Hosam Uddin, Azhar Lali, Nasir Ali, Saleem Uddin Babar et al.
DFA Central announced plans to hold an All-Karachi Ramzan-ul-Mubarak Floodlit Football Cup at Ghausia Football Ground in New Karachi from 1st Ramzan-ul-Mubarak onwards featuring 32 teams from all 5 Karachi districts in knock-out format. All matches will be prayed after Taraweeh prayers, with DFA Central officials also being members of the tournament organising committee. The first match will be played between Colony Star FC (North Karachi) and Burma Mohammadan (Korangi), and the tournament will be inaugurated by DFA East vice president Syed Usman Shah.
