Organised by The Karachi United Foundation on home-and-away basis, the Karachi United Youth Football League saw North Nazimabad overcome Lyari centre 2-1 after a thrilling contest at the National Soccer Academy Ground in Paposh for their second win of the campaign. Striker Sameer Chandio was adjudged man of the match by league administrator Riaz Ahmed for his two goals for North Nazimabad.
The league will now continue after the Eid-ul-Adha break. The game
started off with good plays by both sides. North Nazimabad’s strike force of Sameer Chandio, Asad, and Anwar should good coordination amongst
themselves as they utilised some good passes from their midfielders Noman Tahir, Farhan and Hamza. However Lyari centre drew first blood via an unfortunate own goal from North Nazimabad defender Umair who headed the ball in his own net trying to clear in 21st minute.
However just before half time, Sameer Chandio found himself in a good position and scored past Lyari goalkeeper Arshad to make it 1-1. In 2nd half, Lyari put North Nazimabad under pressure from their attack force of captain Hashim, Hosam, Abbas, and Zohaib as well as midfield Habib, Basit, and Ubaid. However North Nazimabad had their goalkeeper Raadif to thank for in pulling off a string of fine saves to keep the score level.
In 43rd minute, North Nazimabad found a break through as Sameer Chandio latched on to a through ball by Noman Tahir and finished in style past Lyari goalie Arshad to make it 2-1. The score remained such at full time as North Nazimabad, under coaches Fareed Majeed (KPT) and Mohsin Shah (KPT), held their ground to take their points tally to 6 in 3 games played. This was Lyari’s first match of the tournament with their coach Gulzar Baloch (HBL).
Match referee was senior national referee Habib Ullah while match commissioner was Khalid Majeed (Secretary Referees, Central Zone).
