Karachi United School Championship 2010 qualifiers start off with a bang

The 6th Karachi United School Championship 2010 qualifying round started off with a bang as 4 games were decided today (27th Nov 2010) at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. According to tournament organising secretary and veteran football journalist Riaz Ahmed, Southshore School beat British Overseas School a resounding 14-0, Beaconhouse PECHS beat Beaconhouse North Nazimabad 3-1, Fahim School System beat BVS Parsi High School 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw, and Progressive Public School beat Civilisation School 4-0. The winning sides went through to the final round which will be played from 18th December 2010 onwards.

In the first game, Southshore’s captain and striker Daniyal Naqi scored 6 goals as his team beat a weak British Overseas School with a humiliating 14-0 score. Southshore’s Jawad Jamal scored 3 goals, Saad Soriya scored 2 while Bilal Naqi, Haziq Ali, and Adeel Raza scored one a piece.

The All-Beaconhouse clash saw PECHS branch beat North Nazimabad branch 3-1. PECHS striker and captain Mohtashim scored a brace while Noman scored a third for PECHS from a Saif Ali cross. North Nazimabad branch’s Saad Fatimi scored a consolation to make it 1-3.

The Fahim School System overcame BVS Parsi High School 4-2 on penalties after their match finished 2-2 in normal time. In 4th minute, winger Hussain Khan made it 1-0 for BVS Parsi but in 29th minute Saqib equalised for Fahim School. The match was 1-1 at half time. In second half Hassan gave Fahim School the lead in 38th minute but Zaheer Zaidi made it 2-2 just minutes later as scores remained tied at end of normal time. In penalties, Fahim School won 4-2 with Farooq, Umair, Hassan and Ata scoring their spot kicks while Hamad missed. BVS Parsi could only have Zaheer Zaidi and Talha Advani score but Hussain Khan and Samad Jamil missed their efforts.

In final game of day, Progressive Public School eased past Civilisation School 4-0. Atif scored twice while Ali Raza and Ali Imran scored once each.
