ISLAMABAD: The German embassy in Pakistan will sponsor a local football academy in Islamabad – Mescom. The embassy will provide sports equipment worth Rs quarter of a million on September 18 (Saturday). The academy’s Nigerian coach Emeka Aliewa informed reporters on Wednesday that German Ambassador Dr Michael Koch was likely to be the chief guest at the equipment distribution ceremony.
Aliewa said the German embassy was playing a vital role in the promotion of football in Islamabad. “In the past, the embassy has sponsored a woman’s soccer team of Islamabad that participated in the National Woman’s Championship,” he added. Aliewa said the Pakistani players were full of talent and this sponsorship would support the development of this talent.
