PFF to observe AFC Women’s Football Day

Pakistan Football Federation will celebrate the AFC Women’s Football Day on Monday at the KPT Football Stadium in Karachi. The AFC Women’s Football Day celebrates women’s football across Asia.

Women and girls across Asia celebrate the AFC Women’s Football Day today with different football activities.

PFF will give young school girls an opportunity to play and interact with the Pakistan Women’s National Team players through small sided games.

The idea behind the activity is to inspire girls to play football. The small-sided games will give them the feel of playing the beautiful game and that too with inspirational National Women’s Team stars.

The Asian Football Confederation is the only football Confederation to mark the international women’s day with girls’ and women’s football activities and PFF, being a member of the Asian Football family welcomes AFC’s steps to benefit women’s football.

AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “Women’s football in Asia has achieved incredible development over the past decade and the huge success could not be accomplished without the passion and hard work of women from different parts of the Continent. Coinciding with the International Women’s Day, the AFC Women’s Football Day underlines the AFC’s commitment to recognise and honour the dedication of the women in the sport.

“The AFC calls on everyone to join hands and pay tribute to women for their significant contributions in promoting and developing our great game.”

The AFC Women’s Football Day will coincide with the 2021 National Women’s Football Championship, which kicks off on Tuesday, March 9 at the KPT Football Stadium and the KMC Football Stadium in Karachi.

PFF Normalisation Committee Chairman Haroon Malik said: “We have a responsibility towards all football players, coaches and officials and specially towards women involved in the sport, be it the players, the coaches or the officials. PFF is committed towards the development of women’s football and the upcoming 2021 National Women’s Football Championship will speak volumes about PFF’s efforts behind giving women the opportunity to play.”

Strict protocols will be followed during the AFC Women’s Football Day and the following National Women’s Football Championship to protect the players and all others physically involved in the competition from the COVID-19 virus. Participating teams have been given a set of regulations to ensure safety.
