PNEC WINS 11TH AKU INTER-UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL TROPHY
Karachi: The final of the 11th Aga Khan University (AKU) Inter-University Football Tournament was played yesterday, 5 May 2013, at the AKU Football Ground. Pakistan Naval Engineering College (PNEC) Team clinched the Football Trophy defeating Bahria University (BU) Team by 2-1 goals.
Guest of Honours Dr. Hashir Majid, Assistant Professor, Pulmonary & Critical Care, Department of Medicine, AKU, Misbah-ul-Hassan and Sher Mohammed, International Players, Pakistan Football Team in presence of Riaz Akbar Contractor, Chief Organizer and Manager AKU Sports Centre, Munawar Khan, Qamar Ali, Football Head Coach, AKU, Sajjad Akbar, Tournament Secretary and M. Nizam, Media Coordinator distributed the prizes among the players. The PNEC Captain Sohaib Aziz received the Winning Trophy while Bahria University Skipper Bilal Ali received the Runner’s-up Trophy. The 3rd position trophy was received by Amjad Khan, Captain of Iqra University (IU) Football Team who earlier defeated Hamdard University (HU) by 1-0 goal (Goal scored by Asad Abbas in 27th min).
Adnan Mohammad of PNEC was given the Best Player of the Tournament award. Special Consolation Prizes were awarded to Arsal Shakeel of BU, Abdullah Shamsuddin of PNEC, Asad Abbas of IU and Abdul Maalik of HU for demonstrating excellent skills in the Football Tournament. Dr. Hashir Majid paid tributes to the efforts of AKU Sports Centre Organizers for organizing such healthy activities especially for the youths and congratulated both the teams on their success. He emphasized to the Organizers that such Tournaments should be arranged on regular basis for the promotion of Football amongst the youth. Riaz Akbar Contractor, Chief Organizer and Manager AKU Sports Centre thanked the guests, the participating teams, print and electronic media and the technical officials for all the support in organizing the successful tournament.

PNEC won the match by Score 2-1 Goals. At half time, Score was 2-0 in favour of PNEC.
