Bangkok, Thailand: The Pakistan men’s national futsal team again produced a comeback in the 2026 SAFF Futsal Championship. They were 4-1 down in the 2nd period but rallied to finish the game 4-4 with Nepal at the Nonthaburi Indoor Stadium.
It was a disastrous start for Pakistan as despite creating loads of chances in 1st period, they were down 2-0 by half time thanks to Bikram Narsingh Rana’s brace for Nepal. Then Jenish Prajapati made it 3-0 before Muhammad Ellham pulled one back for Pakistan. Yet Nepal extended their lead again when Suraj Gurung made it 4-1 in 32nd minute.
But Pakistan were not going down without a fight as they laid siege to Nepal’s goal. Quickfire goals from Nisar Hussain and Asif Ahmad Chaudhry reduced the deficit to 4-3 as their opponents struggled. Ultimately, Pakistan captain Muhammad Hassaan Zafar Khan found the equalizer with a well placed move in 37th minute to make it 4-4.
The Shaheens even created chances to win the game in the final seconds but could not find the net as the game finished a resounding 4-4 with Nepal. The result leaves Pakistan with 7 points from 4 games as they now look for a podium finish in their remaining fixtures against Bangladesh (22 January) and India (26 January).
The other men’s event results today saw unbeaten Maldives cement their place at the top with a 5-0 thrashing of India while Bangladesh overwhelmed Sri Lanka 5-1. Tomorrow, 21 January, Pakistan women’s team faces Nepal at 3:00pm PKT kickoff.
