Yemen thrash Pakistan 5-1 in AFC U17 qualifiers

Besh Kungei, Kyrgyzstan: Pakistan’s 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualification hopes ended today at the Dostuk Arena after Yemen won 5-1 in their Group B clash.

Yemen continued their impressive form with the opener in the 18th minute, Sailan Basheer beating Samar Razzaq from the penalty spot.

Pakistan’s inability to clear from Basheer’s corner delivery saw them concede again a minute later with Ali Shafiq’s curler bouncing off the bar, hitting Razzaq and landing over the line.

The West Asians struck again in the 25th minute when Abdulrahman Alqufaili threaded the ball through for Fahd Salah, who rounded Razzaq before slotting home.

Salah scored again in the 69th minute after he twice rounded Razzaq before flicking home from an acute angle with Mansoor Ahmad netting a consolation for Pakistan two minutes later.

Yemen capped a five-star performance with Basheer’s second in the game in the 82nd minute.

Pakistan U17s had started strongly by winning their first two games with 3-1 scorelines against Cambodia and Group B hosts Kyrgyzstan before losing to Laos 2-1 and then Yemen 5-1.

In other Group B fixtures, Cambodia thrashed struggling Guam 5-1 while Kyrgyzstan beat Laos 3-2.
