LAHORE: The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has finalised a preliminary squad of 50 promising players for the upcoming AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, with camp training set to commence on August 16 at the Kunj Football Ground in Abbottabad.
An official from the PFF confirmed The News that all selected players have been instructed to report to the venue by 4:00 PM on the day. The intensive camp will run for two weeks under the supervision of head coach Nolberto Solano, who arrives in Pakistan on August 15 to lead the final phase of preparations.
The preliminary squad, shortlisted through nationwide trials, features exciting young prospects including Abdul Rehman, Haseeb Khan, Adam Najeeb Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Hassan, and Tufail Khan, along with several other emerging talents eager to secure a spot in the final 23-member team.
Training sessions will focus on tactical drills, match awareness, and physical conditioning, ensuring players are in peak form before the tournament.
Pakistan’s qualifying campaign will open on September 3 against Iraq, followed by matches against hosts Cambodia on September 6 and Oman on September 9. The event represents a major opportunity for Pakistan’s next generation of footballers to prove their mettle on the continental stage.
