President PFF hails historic win as Pakistan defeats Indonesia in WACQs [The Nation]

President of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), Syed Mohsen Gilani, has congratulated the national women’s football team on their historic 2-0 victory over Indonesia in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Describing it as a proud moment for the nation, Gilani lauded the team’s aggressive and determined performance, calling it a “significant milestone in the history of Pakistani women’s football.”

“This is a proud day for all of us,” said President Gilani. “The team’s spirited performance has not only earned a crucial win but also lifted the spirits of football fans across the country. They have made the nation proud.”

Nadia Khan opened the scoring in the 8th minute to give Pakistan an early lead, while Suha Hirani doubled the advantage with a composed penalty in the 18th minute. The win marks Pakistan’s first-ever victory in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualification stage.

President Gilani expressed confidence in the team’s continued success and hoped for another strong showing in their final group match against Kyrgyzstan on July 5.

“I have full faith in our players,” Gilani said. “They have shown great potential and resilience. I am optimistic they will continue this momentum and deliver another solid performance in the upcoming match.”

Pakistan’s final group stage game will kick off at 1:30 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST).
