AFC Women qualifiers: Chinese Taipei 8-0 Pakistan [AFC]

Tangerang Regency: Chinese Taipei opened their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ Qualifiers Group D campaign with an emphatic 8-0 win against Pakistan on Sunday.

Quarter-finalists in 2022, Chinese Taipei will look for a second win when they face Kyrgyz Republic on Wednesday with Pakistan hoping to recover against hosts Indonesia.

Chinese Taipei dominated proceedings from the start and their pressure was rewarded with two goals in three minutes as they took a stranglehold on the game.

Pu Hsin-Hui’s shot in the 14th minute took a slight deflection off Pakistan defender Maria Khan, sending goalkeeper Zeeyana Jivraj the wrong way as the ball settled in the back of the net.

The East Asian side doubled their lead in the 17th minute when Chen Jin-Wen was allowed time inside the penalty area to lob the ball over Zeeyana.

A relentless Chinese Taipei punished Pakistan again in the 40th minute when Hsu Yi-Yun’s cross was only half-cleared with Su Yu-Hsuan in the right place to slam home from close range.

Pakistan coped better defensively after the interval but could not prevent Chinese Taipei from extending their lead in the 65th minute.

Hsu picked up a loose clearance outside the box, shifted the ball to her right before unleashing a rocket into the far corner beyond Zeeyana.

Further efforts from Pu in the 86th minute, Liu Yu-Chiao (88th) and He Jia-Shiuan (90th+1, 90th+2) sealed a convincing start for Chinese Taipei.
