Another four matches were contested on the third day of the National Challenge Cup 2023 final round at Jinnah Sports Complex in Islamabad.
In the first match, Masha United secured a 1-0 victory over Pakistan Navy. The lone goal of the match was netted by Mujahid Hussain, sealing the win for Masha United in stoppage time.
The second match saw a clash between the Pakistan Army and HEC, with the Pakistan Army emerging triumphant with a scoreline of 3-1. Afzaal (15′), Umair Ali (28′) and Haris (52′) found the back of the net for Army to get a successive win, while Muhammad Inam (83′) managed to score a single goal for HEC.
In the third match, KRL dominated SA Farms with a 3-0 victory to get their first points of the round. Najeebullah netted two goals (51′ and stoppage time) and secured his position as the top scorer for KRL. Waqar Baloch sealed the deal by adding another goal (77′), bringing the final score to 3.
In the fourth match, PACA emerged victorious over NIMSO with a close score of 2-1. Sharab Khan scored two crucial goals for his team. Despite Musaveer’s effort with one goal for NIMSO, it wasn’t enough to alter the outcome.
After two games each, the results leave Army on top of Group A with 6 points with a confirmed quarterfinal spot, HEC second with 3 points, PACA third also with 3 points but with inferior goal difference, and NIMSO are fourth with 0 points.
Similarly, in Group B after two games each, Masha United are top with 4 points, Navy are second with 3 points, KRL are third also with 3 points but behind Navy on head-to-head, while SA Farms are fourth with just 1 point.
Tomorrow, May 4, shall also see 4 matches. In Group C, WAPDA face Police while Otto Cranes face WSTC. In Group D, Asia Ghee Mills face Railways while SA Gardens face PAF.
