KARACHI: The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has continued its efforts to revamp and strengthen the men’s national football team.

In an exciting development, the PFF has announced the hiring of Brazilian goalkeeping coach, Rogerio Ramos, to work with the national team ahead of World Cup qualifier matches.

Ramos, a seasoned professional in the realm of goalkeeping coaching, will bring a wealth of experience to the Pakistani squad.

The Pakistan national football team, under the leadership of recently appointed head coach Stephen Constantine, is set to embark on a journey to Cambodia. They are scheduled to arrive on October 9 to prepare for the crucial World Cup qualifiers.

It must be noted that Rogerio Ramos has previously collaborated with Stephen Constantine, adding an element of familiarity and cohesion to the coaching setup.

Furthermore, PFF has also appointed Claudio Altieri as the team’s fitness trainer. He has worked with Constantine.

Altieri, hailing from Italy, has already joined the Pakistan football team and arrived in Lahore today to commence his duties.

Regarding Stephen Constantine, he is one of the most experienced coaches in Asia. After starting his managerial career, he coached the Nepal national team for two years before taking over the realm of the Indian football team.

The 60-year-old led India to a silver medal at the 2003 Afro-Asian Games in 2003 and then the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship in 2016, during his second stint with the Blues. Under his leadership, India also won the Intercontinental Cup in 2018 after which he was named the Coach of the Year in the country.

In his long coaching career, he has managed big teams like Premier League’s (PL) AFC Bournemouth and another English club Millwall.

The World Cup qualifiers between Pakistan and Cambodia are scheduled to take place on October 12 and 17, 2023. The first leg will be held in Cambodia while the second in Pakistan.
