PFA elections put on hold by LHC Bahawalpur bench [Dawn]

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench has stopped the Normalization Committee of the Pakistan Football Federation from holding the elections of the Punjab Football Association (PFA).

According to Sardar Naveed, who claims he is still the president of PFA, vice-president of his body Iqbal-ur-Rehman filed a petition with the bench, taking the plea that as the elections of the PFA were held under the supervision of Supreme Court for a period of 2018-2022, the Normalization Committee should not hold further elections.

The next date of hearing is Dec 16.

Meanwhile, in another development the Normalization Committee, which has been appointed by FIFA, announced the election commissioners for all the provinces on Wednesday.

According to the announcement, Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem has been appointed as secretary Election Commission for all the four provinces as well as Islamabad. The Committee also appointed Malik Maqbool Hussain, Qazi Noor Ahmad, U.F Tariq Lutfi and Malik Asghar Awan as the Provincial Election Commissioners of Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and KP, respectively.

Rashid Brohi will be the election commissioner for Islamabad.
