LAHORE – Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the international football body, and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have recognised Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat-led Pakistan Football Federation and wished his body in the preparations for the PFF Congress on June 30 in Changla Gali.
The AFC on Wednesday wrote on its website that the confederation had taken note of recent developments in the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and had been closely monitoring the situation based on available information.
“The AFC supports the democratically and legally elected PFF Exceptive Committee (EXCO), and condemns any form of unsporting maneuver whether this is against FIFA, AFC or PFF statutes, or against national law.” “The AFC plans to be present, as per normal procedure, as observer at the elective PFF General Assembly scheduled for June 30, 2015,” it added. Earlier, FIFA through AFC wrote to Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat to clarify the validity of the PFF Extraordinary Congress held on June 16, 2015. “FIFA and the AFC would like clarification on the validity of this Congress as well as that of the 20 delegates attending the said meeting. It is also vital for us to know the exact number of voting delegates at the upcoming Congress as per Article 23 of the PFF Statutes, which states that it is 26 in total.”
The FIFA and AFC also wished Faisal-led PFF for the elections on June 20, 2015. “We look forward to your clarification on this and wish you well in the preparations for the PFF Congress on June 30, 2015 in Changla Gali.” They also assured their all-out support to Faisal and recognised Faisal-led PFF as legitimate body. “Rest assured that the AFC solely recognises the PFF under your presidency as the legitimate governing body for football in Pakistan.”
