KARACHI: Nigerian striker Oludeyi Abayomi Sunday will also represent K-Electric in the National Football Challenge Cup, which will be held here at the KPT Stadium from March 25 to April 12.
An official of K-Electric, formerly known as Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), told ‘The News’ here on Friday that he had requested Abayomi to stay for the Challenge Cup and the foreigner had agreed. “We have lost three successive finals of the Challenge Cup. We thought if we fielded Oludeyi, we could win the event this time,” the official said. Oludeyi, who played only 11 games of the Premier League for K-Electric due to delay in visa process, impressed everyone with his caliber in the league. He not only scored five vital goals for K-Electric, but also had a hand in several others.
To a query the official said that it had not yet been decided whether his contract would be renewed for the next year’s Premier League. “We are thinking whether we should renew his contract or not,” said the official.
Oludeyi took $1000 per month during the Premier League.
K-Electric, who ended as runners-up in the top league this season, will start their formal training for the National Challenge Cup from March 1.
