KARACHI: Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) secretary Col Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi will attend the South Asian Football Federation’s (SAFF) Congress to be held in Dhaka on March 5, during which voting will be held for the new president. Interestingly, on the same day, Bangladesh will face India in a FIFA International friendly in Goa.
Bangladesh Football Federation’s (BFF) secretary Abu Naeem Shohag said the date was pre-decided. “The date of the Congress was decided in November last year while the match against India was finalised last week,” Naeem told Bangladeshi media.
According to media reports, there will also be a few changes in the executive committee of the SAFF as the vice-president posts will be extended from two to three.
As no one from the other eight SAFF countries had yet expressed interest in seeking the president’s post, Kazi Salahuddin, also the chief of the BFF, was likely to retain his seat, reports said.
However, if a contender appears, the eight countries will vote. Salahuddin was elected SAFF chief unopposed in 2009.
