Kalri, Azam, BM, & KB make it into semis


Kalri Star Lyari edged Karachi United 2-1 to pip them to third spot and a place in the semi-finals as the league round of the 10th Aman Sports Karachi Football League came to a thrilling close on Tuesday.

The two sides came into the game at the Baloch Mujahid Stadium, Ibrahim Hydri locked on 13 points and on fourth and fifth placed respectively, a point behind Baloch Mujahid.
A draw etween Kalri Star and United would have seen Baloch Mujahid, who lost 1-0 to league found winners Korangi Baloch, miss out but they scraped through to the semi-finals after finishing in fourth.

United started with more purpose against Kalri Star and opened the scoring Khurram Ibrahim in the sixth minute but their early commitment was undone in six second half minute. Muhammad Lal equalized for Kalri Star in the 62nd minute before Mohammad Habib scored the winner as they ended the league round in third place with 16 points and set up a simi final clash on Thursday against Azam Sports who finished on 20.

Korangi Baloch’s victory, courtesy Saeed Baloch’s 53rd minute strike, helped them top the standings with 22 points and they will face Baloch Mujahid (14) against in the last four match on Friday.

United finished fifth with 13 points, followed by Baloch Youth (11), last year’s champions Burma Mohammedan (nine), Irfan Memorial (seven), FC Rovers (six) and bottom of the table Al-Shabaz Korangi (four).

Final will be played on 16th June (Sunday) at 4:00 pm at Baloch Mujahid Stadium.
