KARACHI: PAF ended KESC’s winning streak in the Pakistan Premier Football League, prevailing 1-0 in the match in Peshawar, while NBP climbed to the top after a win over ZTBL.
Mohammad Mujahid scored the lone goal in the 15th minute with KESC failing to equalise despite several attempts. To add insult to injury, KESC’s Wali Khan will miss the next game after being red carded. Meanwhile, Mujahid said the win over KESC would give the team a lot of confidence.
“It shows we are capable of winning the title as well,” Mujahid told The Express Tribune. “KESC are a strong side and they tend to play rough when they are losing, but we just proved we have potential.”
The win consolidated PAF’s fourth position in the league, while KESC slipped to second. KESC will be ruing all the chances they missed to equalise as they have stuttered in their quest for an inaugural League win, allowing rivals KRL to close the gap with games in hand.
In the other match, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) went top of the table after beating Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd (ZTBL) with a goal from Misbahul Haq sealing the result late in the 87th minute.
Meanwhile, the match between former champions WAPDA and Pakistan Navy in Lahore and PMC Athletico Faisalabad and Baloch FC Nushki in Faisalabad will now take place today after being postponed due to heavy rain.
