Irfan Memorial FC (Landhi) played a friendly game against a Combined 36-B Centre Landhi XI side at its ground on 7 July 2012. The match finished 2-2 at end of normal time, and Irfan Memorial won the friendly in subsequent penalty shoot-out 4-2.
A large crowd witnessed the game at Irfan Memorial Ground, and the game was attended by the area Member of National Assembly (MNA), Syed Asif Hasnain (MQM) as chief guest. He met both teams as well as players from A1 Football Academy during the half-time break. The chief guest assured his full support to Irfan Memorial for improving its ground.
Syed Asif Hasnain told the audience that funds will be released from his MNA fund to help the club install latest facilities at the ground, including floodlights, kit room, and a pavilion to give the Irfan Memorial Ground a more professional look to host tournaments in future as Irfan Memorial is one of the top football teams of Landhi, Karachi.
Also present at the occasion was C.O. Arshad Ahmed, Unit-84 incharge Mr Sohail, DFA East vice-president Syed Usman Shah, Abdur Rauf Lala, Nasir Ali, M Shamim, Khalid Ahmed, Shahid Ahmed, M Khurshid, et al.
The All-Karachi Korangi Baloch Challenge Cup, hosted by Korangi Baloch FC (Sharafi) and sponsored by Getz Pharma, saw Azam Sports beat Karachi Kickers 1-0 in 3rd quarter-final thanks to a first-half goal from Furqan Ali.
Azam Sports gave Karachi Kickers their 3rd successive defeat having previously won encounters at Gulshan-e-Ittehad Ground (Korangi) and Imtiaz Sports Ground (Kala Pul) in the same tournament.
Tournament secretary Capt. Hameed said that in the Korangi Baloch Challenge Cup semis, Al-Shabaz Korangi face winner of the Korangi Baloch vs Malir Shaheen quarter-final, while Azam Sports face Baloch Youth (Garden). Final will be played on 13 July.
