Burma Mohdn. earn tough win in KUFL

The 9th Karachi United Football League (KUFL) 2011-12 saw an intriguing Super League match between Burma Mohammedan and Al-Shabaz (Korangi ) on Saturday evening.

Burma fought hard to record a narrow 1-0 win over their more accomplished rivals to win 3 valuable points at the Korangi Baloch Stadium here in Sharafi, Karachi. The match was decided by a long drive goal from Burma’s striker Mohammad Jaffer in the second half. Al-Shabaz wasted many chances to equalize but failed to score.

It was a tense 90 minutes of the football. Favourties Al-Shabaz started well with their strikers Abdul Rahman, Shah Alam, Mohammad Rafiq and Owais Rahman. However, Burma goal keeper International Abdul Ghani denied the opposition numerous chances to score as the score line remained 0-0 at half time.

In the Second half, Burma Mohammedan gathered confidence and put Al-Shabaz under pressure by playing a fluid 4-3-3 formation Mohammad Jaffer expertly played as front runner and combined well which his wingers Mohammad Ayub and Imran Shakoor to trouble Al-Shabaz’s defences with the passing help of midfielder Mohammad Ihaq, Mohammad Usman and Anees Ahmed. However, Al-Shabaz’s goalie Manzoor Alam proved to be a brick wall to their efforts.

Finally Mohammad Jaffer broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when he taken free kick from 20 yds distance directly went into the net to make Burma Mohammedan go 1-0 up.

The goal caused Al-Shabaz to go on all out attack in response but opposing goalie Abdul Ghani denied Al-Shabaz various chances to score.

The win helped Burma Mohammedan 8 points from 6 games while Al-Shabaz completed their quota of 7 matches have 8 points.

The match was supervised by Referee Javed Bangash, Yousuf Mansoori and Mohammad Ishaq with H.M. Hanif as the Match Commissioner.
