Baloch FC Malir edge Mauripur Azad 2-1 in Engro League

The 2012 All-Karachi Engro Vopak Football League saw home side Baloch FC Malir edge past Mauripur Azad 2-1 at Jam Stadium (Malir, Karachi) yesterday 4 Feb 2012. The win helped Baloch Club register their first 3 points in the league campaign, while Mauripur Azad faced their 2nd straight loss following another 1-2 loss against another home side Jam XI (Malir) previously.

Baloch FC Malir played relatively better than Mauripur Azad in the game. Zakir Hussain gave Baloch Club a 1-0 lead after 11 minutes from a Fida Hussain pass. Mauripur Azad attempted to respond with a goal of their own but poor finishing let them down. Amjad Ali’s 29th minute penalty was well-saved by Baloch Club’s goalkeeper Shakeel Ahmed. Mauripur then failed to score despite hardwork by Sajid Khumaisa and Kamran Khan who combined well to create a golden chance. Then Kamran Khan struck the crossbar in 41st minute as Baloch Club held on to their 1-0 lead at half time.

Fida Hussain’s freekick made it 2-0 for Baloch Club in 52nd minute when it sailed past Mauripur Azad goalkeeper Ahmed Hussain and into the net. Mauripur Azad responded just 5 minutes later when Kamran Khan finally scored from a Sajid Khumaisa pass to reduce the deficit to 2-1. Mauripur Azad’s attempts to equalise in final minutes proved fruitless in front of Baloch FC Malir’s defence as the home side held on for the win.

Referees were Abdul Ghafoor, Imran Hussain, M Ishaq, and Arif Hameed, match doctor Shahjahan Baloch, and match commissioner Abdul Karim. Baloch Mujahid FC (Ibrahim Hyderi) secretary Master Ghulam Rasool gave Baloch FC’s Fida Hussain the Rs 500 cash ‘Man of the Match’ award. On Monday, 6 Feb 212, Salaar Welfare Centre (Malir) face Azam Sports (Drigh Road).
