Rehan Munir was in inspiring form as he helped helped Karachi United FC record their 2nd successive win of the 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League 2011-12 season on Thursday, 17 November 2011. Rehan’s hat-trick proved key for KUFC as they beat fellow Group ‘B’ side Baloch Mohammadan (Malir) 5-1 at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. In other game of the day, KUFL 2010-11 runners up Mauripur Baloch overcame Frontier City (Banaras) 4-1.
Karachi United raced to a 2-0 lead by half time thanks to a brace from Rehan Munir (12′ and 37′) as Baloch Mohammadan struggled to take control of the game. Rehan then completed his hat-trick – 7th over all of the current season – in fine style as he made it 3-0 in 72nd minute. Baloch Mohammadan responded through a goal from substitute Asif Hakeem in 78th minute, but that did not deted KUFC as they scored twice more. Athar Qadri made it 4-1 in 88th minute, before Rehan scored his 4th of the game a minute later to make KUFC win 5-1 in the end.
Mauripur Baloch eased past Frontier City in other game and were 1-0 up at half time thanks to Majid Rasheed’s 38th minute strike. Frontier City did come close a few times but its strikers Matiullah, Umar Khan, M Nabi failed to find the target. In 2nd half, Mauripur put the game beyond their opponents reach as they scored thrice more. Goals from Sajjad Kaka (66′) and a Sameer Jahangir penalty (69′) helped their side to go 3-0 up. Frontier City left winger Matiullah managed to reduce deficit to 3-1 with a goal in 80th minute but Adnan Sakhi scored from a Sajjad Kaka pass in 89th minute to help Mauripur Baloch win 4-1 at the end.
Referees were Ansar Abbas, Ahmed Mian, M Umar, Riaz Ahmed, Shaukat Ali, Asad Mehmood, and match commissioner Abdul Karim. The results helped Karachi United reach top of Group ‘B’ with 7 points from 3 games while Mauripur Baloch had 5 points from 3 games. Baloch Mohammadan remained at 4 points from 3 games, while Frontier City were at 0 from their first game of the KUFL campaign.
