Karachi United record 2nd win in KUFL

Rehan Munir was in inspiring form as he helped helped Karachi United FC record their 2nd successive win of the 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League 2011-12 season on Thursday, 17 November 2011. Rehan’s hat-trick proved key for KUFC as they beat fellow Group ‘B’ side Baloch Mohammadan (Malir) 5-1 at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. In other game of the day, KUFL 2010-11 runners up Mauripur Baloch overcame Frontier City (Banaras) 4-1.

Karachi United raced to a 2-0 lead by half time thanks to a brace from Rehan Munir (12′ and 37′) as Baloch Mohammadan struggled to take control of the game. Rehan then completed his hat-trick – 7th over all of the current season – in fine style as he made it 3-0 in 72nd minute. Baloch Mohammadan responded through a goal from substitute Asif Hakeem in 78th minute, but that did not deted KUFC as they scored twice more. Athar Qadri made it 4-1 in 88th minute, before Rehan scored his 4th of the game a minute later to make KUFC win 5-1 in the end.

Mauripur Baloch eased past Frontier City in other game and were 1-0 up at half time thanks to Majid Rasheed’s 38th minute strike. Frontier City did come close a few times but its strikers Matiullah, Umar Khan, M Nabi failed to find the target. In 2nd half, Mauripur put the game beyond their opponents reach as they scored thrice more. Goals from Sajjad Kaka (66′) and a Sameer Jahangir penalty (69′) helped their side to go 3-0 up. Frontier City left winger Matiullah managed to reduce deficit to 3-1 with a goal in 80th minute but Adnan Sakhi scored from a Sajjad Kaka pass in 89th minute to help Mauripur Baloch win 4-1 at the end.

Referees were Ansar Abbas, Ahmed Mian, M Umar, Riaz Ahmed, Shaukat Ali, Asad Mehmood, and match commissioner Abdul Karim.
