The All-Karachi Founders of Baloch Mujahid Memorial Cup saw the results of two games on Saturday, 9 Oct 2011. Janbaz Sports (Landhi) beat Karachi United (DFA South) 3-1 while Hunter Sports (Malir) beat Manghopir Star 3-2 on penalties to go through to next round. Both matches were thrilling affairs for the spectators at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi.
Janbaz Sports pulled off a shocking 3-1 win over highly rated Karachi United FC. Janbaz raced to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Rehmat Ali (16′), Farhan Khan (42′), and Naseem Khan (52′). Karachi United’s youth Benedict Plant made it 3-1 in 67th minute but Janbaz Sports held on for a historic win.
Hunter Sports fought a cagey and tense game with Manghopir Star that was ultimately decided by penalties. Rashid Aziz gave Hunter Sports the lead after just 3 minutes before Babar Ali equalised for Manghopir Star in 25th minute. Mir Jan then gave Manghopir a 2-1 lead in 35th minute but Zafar Ali made it 2-2 five minutes later. No further goals could be scored in the match the entire second half, forcing a penalty shoot out. Hunter Sports then won the shoot out 3-2.
Referees were Ejaz Hussain, Saleem Raja, Iqrar Hussain, Ch. Sarfraz, M Ilyas, and match commissioner Najeeb Ahmed Baloch. On Monday, Tanzeem Sports (Gizri) face Young Azizabad (DFA Central).
