The Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi, Karachi witnessed the final of the All-Karachi Korangi Baloch Football Challenge Cup 2011 on 29 July 2011. Venue and tournament hosts Korangi Baloch thrashed Jam XI (Malir) 3-0 in a one-sided game in front of a capacity home crowd to win the cup in style. Amjad Ali scored twice while Aqeel Baloch scored once for the winning side. The final was attended by chief guest Muhammad Irfan, Managing Director of Getz Pharma (Pvt) Ltd, and he distributed prizes to the finalists at the end of the game.
From the first whistle, the hosts Korangi Baloch dominated the game as Jam XI failed to deal with the home side’s tremendous pressure as KB striker Amjad Ali opened the scoring after just 10 minutes, with Aqeel Baloch making it 2-0 in 17th minute. Amjad Ali then doubled his score and made it 3-0 just before half-time as Korangi Baloch held a firm grip on the game at the break. In 2nd half, Jam XI managed to play better than before but failed to score as Korangi Baloch controlled the tempo and comfortably ran away 3-0 winners of the Challenge Cup at the final whistle in front of a jubilant home support. Referees were Iqrar Hussain, M Umar, Abdul Latif, and match commissioner Rafique Baloch.
The chief guest presented Rs 100,000 prize and champion trophy to winning side Korangi Baloch, while Jam XI got Rs 50,000 and runners-up trophy, alongside Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 prizes to the respective captains. The guest also praised Korangi Baloch for hosting such a successful tournament and vowed to ensure Getz Pharma’s continued support for local football. Muhammad Imran also stated that 100 trees will be planted around the Korangi Baloch Stadium to add to its beauty.
Tournament chief organiser Ustad Haider Baloch (Vice President DFA Malir) and Fateh Muhammad Baloch (President of Karachi DFA Malir, vice president Sindh FA) both thanked Getz Pharma for sponsoring this tournament and for supporting football. Other guests present at the final were officals from DFA Malir, DFA West, and DFA East, journalist Riaz Ahmed et al.
Sindh FA declared the All-Sindh Shaheed Awam Football Tournament being played in Khairpur is illegal. Reason given was that tournament organisers Haideri FC (Khairpur) had not sought proper permission from Sindh FA to organise the event. Sindh FA secretary Jan Muhammad Baloch has ordered the tournament’s participating teams to withdraw from the event, or else face strict action from Sindh FA.
