Salaar Welfare Centre Malir overcame a stubborn Korangi Gymkhana in a tense contest 2-1 thanks to a brace from striker Abdul Haleem, while Baloch Youth Garden were awarded a 3-0 walkover by KFL referees when Malir Union failed to show up on time for their Group ‘A’ fixture at Baloch Mujahid Stadium, Ibrahim Hyderi in 8th Karachi Football League 2010-11.
In an Group ‘B’ exciting encounter, Abdul Haleem gave Salaar W.C. a 1-0 lead before half time in the 40th minute but Muhammad Faizan equalised in 51st minute for Korangi Gymkhana. Abdul Haleem scored his and Salaar Welfare’s second of the game in 70th minute as his side held on for a vital 2-1 win. The result left Salaar Welfare Centre on 7 points from 6 games to lie in 8th place while Korangi Gymkhana remain bottom in 10th with 4 points from 8 games.
KFL organising secretary Riaz Ahmed declared Abdul Haleem as man of the match for his splendid performance as he joined Hameed Afridi (Young Ansari) as joint top scorer in KFL 2010-11 with 8 goals each.
The Group ‘A’ clash between Baloch Youth Garden and Malir Union could not take place as Malir Union failed to show up on time at venue. Baloch Youth Garden were awarded a 3-0 walkover as a result by the KFL referees and administration. Baloch Youth Garden now lie 2nd place with 14 points from 7 games while Malir Union lie 8th with 6 points from 7 games.
Referees were Ibrar Hussain, Iqrar Hussain, Babar Khan, and Farrukh Riaz while match commissioner was Abdul Karim (Member Central Zone).
On Thursday (3 Feb 2011), Burma Mohammadan (Korangi) face Orangi Mohammadan at 3 PM while FC Rovers (Malir) face Shabaz Green (Zone West) at 5 PM.
